Welcome to a Renaissance &
reclamation of the Argentine Tango

Tango Embrace with AnaLinda Marcus brings the Argentine Tango to Boston and Cambridge with special classes and events. From the neighborhoods of Buenos Aires to U.S. cities, from Berlin and Amsterdam to Cuba and Turkey people of all ages are learning the foundations of tango and expanding them creating new things in the process.

This process of renewal is also acting as an impulse on the music so that now we are beginning to hear some music created for dancers that incorporates the experimental sounds of the past few decades.

The vitality of the dance is such that there is not one tango, and like in the tangos of the golden age of the 40’s and 50’s dancers and musicians can now again create within the dance without it threatening to dilute the essence of the Tango. Once upon a time it was said of ganchos, arrastres and even the open-figure style of the dance itself “that is not Tango”.

6 Week Pre-Intermediate Small Group
The Secrets of Comfortable Close Embrace

450 Harrison Ave, #405A, South End (enter through lobby)

Semi-Private group
So, how does the dancer who has learned the basics finally improvise and create a fluid dance? How do they get comfortable in the close embrace?

This is a workshop atmosphere to troubleshoot your dance. It takes time and practice. We can provide that space to you to become true close embrace dancers. There are GOOD changes in the embrace as we move through classic Tango vocabulary including Ochos, simple Giro/Molinete, and the walk to the cross. We will train you in Boleos for 2 weeks. The Boleo is challenging unless you unlock the secrets of the Flexible Embrace.

And you need linking steps so you can move in the line of dance with the music without needing fancy elements all the time. As a treat, we will have a dessert after every meal...a Tango sweet spot each class.

By the end of the series, you will become a comfortable and clear communicator of the basics in the line of dance within the classical music.

This class is also great for any dancers needing to renew their foundation in close embrace.
